Digital preservation refers to the strategies and procedures we implement to ensure that scholarly work published in Current Thoracic Surgery remains permanently accessible, retrievable, and usable for the medical community over the long term. To guarantee that our content is never lost, we rely on a multi-layered preservation approach:
First, all digital content, including our website, published manuscripts, and related files are securely maintained in separate storage locations. While the primary copy is hosted on our main server for immediate everyday access, automated backups are continuously stored on independent, off-site servers. If our main server ever goes offline, our redundant systems allow us to restore full access to the website within 24 to 48 hours.
Second, we ensure long-term preservation through independent national archiving. Current Thoracic Surgery is indexed in TR Dizin, maintained by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye - Turkish Academic Network and Information Center (TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM). Complete metadata and full-text electronic versions (PDFs) of all published articles are permanently preserved within the TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM national repository. This guarantees that even in the unlikely event of catastrophic technical failure or if the journal ever ceases publication, the scientific record remains safe, intact, and accessible to researchers worldwide through a dedicated national infrastructure.
Finally, we fully support our authors in archiving their own work. Authors are welcome to deposit the published version (Publisher’s PDF) of their articles in institutional repositories, national databases, or personal academic webpages immediately following publication. We only ask that complete bibliographic citations are provided, along with the article's official, active DOI link (formatted as https://doi.org/...) pointing back to the original publication.
